Step 1: Check if you're registered

  • Visit mi.gov/vote to check your current Ann Arbor address.

  • If not, register online (before 10/22/24)

  • Note: Even if you registered on campus (at a table on the Diag, for example) please verify that your registration was recorded accurately by visiting mi.gov/vote.

Step 2: Get a ballot

  • Request an absentee ballot online as early as August 23, 2024, and no later than October 15th. 

  • Ballots will be mailed out beginning September 24, 2024.

  • If it doesn't arrive within 10 days, check your ballot status online at mi.gov/vote or call the Ann Arbor Clerk at 734-794-6140.

What You Need:

  • Michigan Driver’s License Number, Michigan Personal ID number, or Social Security Number.

Step 3: Fill out your ballot

  • To learn about your choices, visit MIvoter.org. Enter your address and get information about the candidates on your actual ballot. All candidates listed are endorsed by College Democrats at the University of Michigan and the Washtenaw County Democratic Party.

  • To fill out your ballot, follow the instructions on the envelope and sign it!

Step 4: Return your ballot by election day (November 5)

  • Complete your ballot at home, following the instructions carefully. Be sure to sign the provided envelope.

  • Mail your ballot no later than October 15, 2024 (no postage required) to allow extra time for it to be received before 8 pm on November 5th.

  • Drop it in one of these locations before 8 pm on election day:

    • UMMA - Central Campus Art Museum: 525 S State St, Ann Arbor, MI 48109

    • Duderstadt Center - North Campus: 2281 Bonisteel Blvd, Ann Arbor, MI 48109

    • City Hall - Outdoor: 301 E. Huron Street (Available 24/7)

    • Ann Arbor Fire Station #5 - North Campus: 1946 Beal Avenue (Available 24/7)

    • City Hall Ann Street Lobby: 301 E. Huron Street (8 AM - 5 PM, Mon-Fri)

    • City Hall Huron Street Plaza: 301 E. Huron Street (Available 24/7)

Step 5: Track your ballot

  • Visit mi.gov/vote to ensure your ballot was received. 

  • If it’s been more than 10 days since you returned it and your ballot isn’t shown as received, call the Ann Arbor Clerk at 734-794-6140. 

  • You may need to request a new ballot or vote in-person (after October 15th).

Step 6: Encourage your friends

Tell your friends how quick and easy it was for you to vote, and encourage them to do the same as soon as possible!
