Your Plan to Vote In Person

Step 1: Check if you're registered

  • Visit mi.gov/vote to check if you are registered at your current Ann Arbor address.

  • If not, register online (before 10/22/24)

  • Note: Even if you registered on campus (at a table on the Diag, for example) please verify that your registration was recorded accurately by visiting mi.gov/vote.

Step 2: Get a ballot

Once you're registered, request an “absentee ballot” in-person at one of the above locations. Learn more from our Voter Registration Information Page.

What to take with you:

  • Identification such as your MCard (student ID), driver’s license, state ID, or passport

  • No ID? you can still vote by signing an affidavit affirming your identity.

Step 3: Fill out your ballot

  • To learn about your choices, visit MIvoter.org. Enter your address and select “Endorsed Candidates” to get information about the candidates on your actual ballot. All candidates are endorsed by the College Democrats and the University of Michigan and the Washtenaw County Democratic Party.

  • To fill out your ballot, follow the instructions on the envelope and sign it!

Step 4: Return your ballot by election day (November 5)

  • You can fill it out at the same time you pick it up at the clerk’s office,

  • Take it home to fill out and then drop it in a drop box before 8 pm on election day:

    • Duderstadt Center - North Campus: 2281 Bonisteel Blvd, Ann Arbor, MI 48109

    • City Hall - Outdoor: 301 E. Huron Street (Available 24/7)

    • Ann Arbor Fire Station #5 - North Campus: 1946 Beal Avenue (Available 24/7)

    • City Hall Ann Street Lobby: 301 E. Huron Street (8 AM - 5 PM, Mon-Fri)

    • City Hall Huron Street Plaza: 301 E. Huron Street (Available 24/7)

Step 5: Encourage your friends

Tell your friends how quick and easy it was for you to vote, and encourage them to do the same as soon as possible!
